Ordering & sizes

How do I order the right amount of beans?

Always select the total quantity of beans you need using the dropdown menu at the top of the product page. If you have two bean bags needing 250L each then order 500L. Both will arrive identically and 500L is cheaper than 2 x 250L!

To work out how much you need, check the bean bag cover manufacturer's website or packaging. All good bean bag providers will state this clearly for your ease of filling.

What sizes do your beans come in?

We offer our beans in multiples of 100 litre bags and 50 litre bags, so that you can fill your bean bag perfectly. If your bag maker recommends 250 litres, we wanted you to be able to match it exactly without any waste.

White and Black are available from 50L to 1600L, and Envee from 50L to 1200L. For bigger quantities than this, contact us here.

Can I order more than 1,600 litres?

Yes! If you are looking for a bulk quantity of beans, we would love to hear from you. Please contact us for a custom quote.

Which bean should I choose?

This is really a question of preference and budget. There are no wrong answers in our line-up:

White
— our take on the traditional bean. Light and soft, but longer-lasting, easier to fill and lower odour.

Black — our premium bean. The longest-lasting, lowest static, lowest noise and lowest odour.

Envee — 100% plant-based bean bag filling made in Australia with no nasty additives.

Can I place an order without creating an account?

Yes, of course you can. Just order as a guest with no obligation to create an account.

How do I cancel my order?

There is only a short amount of time between when you place your order and when we start processing it. If you contact us straight away after ordering, via fillco@fillco.com.au, we may be able to cancel your order before it's processed. If we have not shipped your order yet, we will refund the purchase price in full.

What does Pre-Order mean?

When you purchase a pre-order, you are buying an out-of-stock or soon-to-be-available product. The estimated shipping date is shown on the product page, above the Pre-Order button. You can cancel a pre-order that has not yet been fulfilled.

Filling & using

How do I fill my bean bag?

Our paper bag creates a natural funnel, making it easier to pour the beans into your bean bag. You can visit our filling page and watch our full instructional video.

Can I top up a bean bag that already has old beans in it?

Yes, this will go a long way to restoring your bean bag to its former comfortable glory.

Can I use them outdoors or in pools?

White and Black: of course — any setting, any water, any bean bag cover.

Envee: yes, with care, and our amazing customers have been doing it for many years. Envee beans love shade. Outdoor in the shade on a 45°C day = no problem at all, and if they get wet, no problem either. Being plant-based, they just don't love the high heat that can occur inside a bean bag cover left in the direct sun. If using in the sun, bring your bean bag back into the shade after you are finished sitting in it. For applications where you need or want to leave your bean bags out in the direct sun for extended periods unattended, we recommend looking at our Fill Co White or Black products.

Do Fill Co beans flatten over time?

All beans compress with use. Compared to generic beans, Fill Co White compresses down considerably slower, and Fill Co Black magnitudes slower. See our Longevity Lab page for more information.

Our beans & packaging

What are your beans made from?

Fill Co White is a fire-retardant grade of polystyrene foam.

Fill Co Black is a polypropylene-based foam.

Envee is made from an innovative particle foam called expanded polylactic acid or EPLA, using Ingeo, a 100% plant-based PLA produced by NatureWorks. Ingeo produces 80% fewer greenhouse gases than traditional polystyrene during production.

Where are your beans made?

In our own Australian factories, where our team processes and monitors every single batch to our high standards of quality, uniformity and long-lasting comfort.

Envee products are licensed Australian Made. We expect Fill Co White will also be shortly.

Fill Co Black is processed, quality controlled and packaged here; however, we are not able to expand the underlying polymer here... yet!

How are your beans packaged?

We package our beans carefully to avoid spills during transit. All our packaging is paper-based, made from renewable resources and plastic-free.

All our shipping boxes are made in Australia from 100% recycled content and sealed with paper-based tape. Inside the shipping box, you will find our Fill Co beans sealed safely inside a tough paper bag.

How do I dispose of the packaging?

All our boxes and bags are recyclable from home in your kerbside recycling bin. Before recycling, you can also reuse and repurpose all our packaging. The paper bags make great drawing paper, and the boxes can provide hours of fun for children!

Will Envee beans compost in my home compost?

Not usually, which is a good thing, as if they did, they would not work as a bean bag filling! Ingeo, used to make Envee beans, requires a catalyst set of conditions to compost, usually only found in industrial composting facilities. You can read more about Envee and these topics on Envee's website.

Safety

Are your beans safe?

At Fill Co, we take the safety of our products seriously. One example is our innovative paper packaging system designed specifically to reduce punctures, spills into the environment and make opening more purposeful.

In Australia, bean bags have the following mandatory warning label:

WARNING: Children can suffocate if bean bag filling is swallowed or inhaled. Do not let children climb inside this bean bag. A bean bag is not a safe sleeping surface for an infant under 12 months of age.

You will also notice that bean bag covers in Australia have a safety zipper with the zip tag removed so that a tool is required to open them.

If, for some reason, your cover does not have a safety zipper with the tag removed, we recommend taking immediate action to ensure children are not able to open the cover.

Payment & returns

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and UnionPay cards, as well as Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and Shop Pay. You will also likely see Afterpay and Zip at checkout, which you can use.

Please contact us as soon as possible at fillco@fillco.com.au if you wish to return or exchange a product for change of mind. We will do our absolute best to help.

We offer exchanges (subject to stock availability) or a 65% to 100% refund for change of mind where you purchased the products within 14 days prior to the request, and the products are unused, in their original condition and in their original undamaged packaging.
